Trickle Down Lebron James Economic Plan Fails

Lebron James is so popular he managed to get the whole season ticket sales staff of the Miami Heat fired.

The tickets sold themselves and there was nothing left to do.

Maybe he could hire them to carry his ego around.

See… stimulating big business does not new jobs create.

If You Want Porn… Get an Android

Steve Jobs anti-porn? I had no idea.

Turns out Mr. Jobs recently said, “Folks who want porn can buy and [sic] Android phone,” and he’s doing his best to keep the “smut” out of his little glossy propritary world.

But don’t ever understimate the porn world when it comes to communication technology. Look at the history of all the various incarnations of the web… who has been among the first adopters of anything new… porn.

And it looks like they’re at it again… according to this recent story on all tech considered the porn industry is all over the new iphone’s video chat function. Ads for live video chat services were up four days after the new phone was released.

Come on Jobs, why fight it?

General Washington Wasn’t No “Tea Party” Supporter

Golly gee I really hate it when people cannot comprehend historical perspective… when anyone on any side of any political debate tries to take the past and bring it into the present context of ethics and judgment without considering, oh I don’t know, perhaps the 200+ years of change that has ocurred in between.

Wonderful article in today’s Washington Post about how silly Tea Party supporters are trying to do just that… they are flocking to one of my favorite tourist destinations, Colonial Williamsburg, in their continued quest for justification and validation of their crazy beliefs.

My favorite part:

When a tourist asked George Washington a question about what should be done to those colonists who remain loyal to the tyrannical British king, Washington interjected: “I hope that we’re all loyal, sir” — a reminder that Washington, far from being an early agitator against the throne, was among those who sought to avoid revolution until the very end.

When another audience member asked the general to reflect on the role of prayer and religion in politics, he said: “Prayers, sir, are a man’s private concern. They are not a matter of public interest. And nor should they be. There is nothing so personal as a man’s relationship with his creator.”

And when another asked whether the Boston Tea Party had helped rally the patriots, Washington disagreed with force: The tea party “should never have occurred,” he said. “It’s hurt our cause, sir.”

Turns out several of the Tea Part-iers are responding to a call from their alien leader, Glenn Beck, who has claimed that we have all but forgotten about our history and our founding fathers.

I couldn’t agree more — as a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, who lives in Washington, DC, had friends attend James Madison University, just enjoyed the HBO mini-series all about John Adams and spent a few George Washingtons yesterday on an iced soy latte, I think our country definitely suffers from a lack of recognition of our dead, white founding-fathers. I sure wish they were as famous and as recognized as all those liberal women and people of color in the past like Bayard Rustin, Ella Baker, Frances Perkins…

Thank You Christina Hendricks

On behalf of curvy redheads everywhere, I would like to thank Christina Hendricks (of Madmen fame) for showing off what her mama gave her. Take that skinny girls.

On more serious notes:

1.) ANOTHER fire in my neighborhood – this time four doors down, one apartment in a four-unit building completely destroyed. At least no one hurt.

2.) Just made a donation to Doctors Without Borders Emergency Relief Fund to help the folks in Haiti and suggest you do the same.

3.) I am honoring the memory of Dr. MLK, Jr. today by remembering all the other amazing activists who came before, inspired, worked with and worked after King and often are forgotten — here’s to you Ella Baker, Bayard Rustin, Diane Nash and all the countless others who risked their lives for the cause and our country. Happy Bday, Dr. King.
